Dr. Brett McGuirk

Training
Brett McGuirk is an experienced specialist Anaesthetist.
He gained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne and St Vincent's Hospital Clinical School in 1997. He pursued further training in anaesthesia at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, the Mercy Hospital for Women and the Royal Children's Hospital, becoming a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2006.
Brett furthered his training and experience at Vancouver General Hospital in Canada in 2005/2006 before a year as a teaching consultant anaesthetist at St Mary's Hospital London in 2006/2007.
Experience
On return to Australia Brett was engaged as a consultant anaesthetist at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and as an honorary lecturer for the University of Melbourne.
He currently practices at a number of private hospitals throughout Melbourne. He has extensive experience in many areas including neurosurgery, sports and orthopaedic surgery, oral surgery and cardiac electrophysiology surgery. He has particular skill and interest in the use of local anaesthetic techniques for superior post operative pain relief.
Outside Interests
Away from the operating theatre he enjoys keeping fit, golf, the sport of kings and time with his family.
