Dr. Michael Rattray

Training
Michael Rattray is a fully qualified specialist anaesthetist. Michael graduated from medicine at the University of Newcastle in 2006, prior to completing his specialist anaesthesia training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne in 2014. He obtained his Anaesthetic Fellowship from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2015
Experience
Michael undertook a year of clinical fellowship at Monash Medical Centre, and The Royal Women’s Hospital in 2014, gaining experience in high-risk obstetric anaesthesia. He has subspecialty interests in obstetric, bariatric, ophthalmic, orthopaedic and regional anaesthesia. Michael enjoys teaching anaesthetic trainees, and helping them to prepare for their fellowship exams.
Michael has been involved in research into goal directed fluid therapy in major colorectal surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery. He has completed further study in clinical ultrasound and echocardiography.
Michael has done volunteer medical work in Mannya, Uganda and continues a teaching appointment in Mongolia.
Current Appointments
Michael holds public appointments at the Royal Women’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, and attends many private hospitals, including Epworth, Cabrini, St Vincent’s, The Avenue, Frances Perry and St John of God, Berwick.
Outside Interests
Outside of work Michael enjoys spending time with his four young children. He is a keen fly fisher and golfer.
